The BIC Halal Korea Certification Center serves as the official representative agency of Indonesia’s Halal Agency (BPJPH; Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal), operating concurrently in both Korea and Indonesia to provide Halal certification services.

From our headquarters in Korea, we issue Halal certificates (Certificate of Halal) on behalf of the Indonesian Halal Agency for products (food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, use goods, storage services) exported to Indonesia. Our Jakarta branch provides Halal certification services for Korean products imported to the Indonesian market.

The Halal certificates issued by our center are mutually recognized in other Islamic countries such as Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey, in accordance with agreements among Islamic nations.

The Indonesian government has mandated the compulsory Halal certification for all food and beverage products imported into Indonesia starting from October 2024, with plans to extend it to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors. However, obtaining Halal certification for products exported to Islamic countries, including Indonesia, is highly advantageous for marketing, regardless of the mandatory certification. Local Muslims habitually check for the Halal certification mark on product packaging before making purchases.

Over the past 50 years, the BIC Halal Certification Center has utilized a close cooperation network established with the Indonesian government and various agencies. We not only support the Halal certification of Korean companies but also expedite the acquisition of import permits from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (POM) and actively support the distribution of Korean Halal products in Indonesia through an agreement with the Indonesian Retailers Association (APRINDO), which oversees 45,000 distribution outlets (department stores, shopping malls, convenience stores, etc.) nationwide. We offer a comprehensive package of services covering three essential sectors for entering the Indonesian market: Halal certification, FDA approval, and distribution.
